FAQ
Do you take reservations?
We gladly accept reservations by phone or email on weekdays for groups of up to 8 people. Please note that it is first come first served on Saturdays.
Is it self-service or table service?
Self-service, please find yourself a table andorder at the cashier! We will then serve the food and drinks to your table. We would really appreciate it, especially during busy times, if you could help put your dishes at our dirty dish area. Thank you!
Can I pre-order breads or other products for self collection?
Yes! We are now accepting pre-orders at least 1-2 weeks in advance (there is no extra cost). Check out our Orders page to find out more.
Do you make custom cakes or desserts for events?
We are just beginning to accept custom orders like cupcakes, cakes, or custom breads (if you'd like a larger pretzel than our standard, for example). We can also make our standard recipes completely lactose-free by request, and sometimes vegan or dairy-free. Email us your request and we'll gladly see if we can make it work!
Is your production area / shop completely gluten-free?
Yes. All of our processes, ingredients, equipment, and workspace are 100% gluten-free and safe for celiacs (like us). We don't use any wheat products, including wheat starch. We don't use any oat products or flour, except for in our Bircher Muesli (gluten-free oats).
What kind of flour do you use?
For our desserts we use Schar Kekse Mix (a mixture of corn and rice flour), and for our simpler, white breads (like our ciabatta and poppy seed buns) we use Schar Bread Mix. For our more complex breads (like our rustic bread, buckwheat buns, wholegrain baguettes or seeded loaf), we use a homemade mix of organic millet, organic buckwheat and linseed (aka flaxseed) flour, together with some starches and psyllium husk.
Do you cater to customers with allergies or other intolerances?
We try to have something for everyone. We only use lactose-free milk, yoghurt and cream in our recipes containing dairy. We do butter that is not certified as lactose-free. We have made this choice as few of those intolerant to lactose are also intolerant to butter, as it naturally contains extremely small amounts of lactose, and the use of lactose-free butter would require us to increase our prices. We have several vegan products, and products with no nuts or soy.
Please note that due to the small size of our operation, we are unable to rule out traces of nuts or sesame from any product. Our products may be in contact with each other - so if you have a severe allergy or are concerned about cross-contamination, please ask one of the staff members, or feel free to contact us via the website/FB/Instagram/email to ask :)
Are you open to working or collaborating with other businesses?
Definitely! Please send an email to info@zufreeden.ch with some information about the desired collaboration.
